Another blast!

Over 400 hp

Only four boats are in this heat.  EARNEST quickly gets off the line first, as ISLAND WIND tries to catch up.

Down below, Jim Stansfield cranks the throttle. "I don't really have to do this, " he said, " but it makes me feel better!"

The finishing order can easily be seen as MARLIN II (left) grabs second place, followed by DANIELLE and ISLAND WIND.

It's all cheers from EARNEST as she cross the line first!

Crew and guests aboard EARNEST pause for a portrait after the race

Unlimited

This is the heat for the big boys, only in this case, there were only two boats, and on the face of it, seem rather mismatched.

In a repeat of 1997's battle when Knox destroyed MARY L,  GENERAL HENRY KNOX ran over the competition, in this case, Manke Towing's JUDY M. Knox's skipper says he only ran one of the behemoth's 5000 hp diesels. But it's about that bow wake.

Someone out there must have a monster tug hidden away. Hopefully, they will bring it to next year's contest and give the General a run for her money.

The answer to JUDY M's problems are obvious. Too many  guests! If she wants to win, she's got to shave off some of that weight!

Well off the race course, these swimmers await the wake of the GENERAL HENRY KNOX. They were not disappointed.

And it's a fond farewell from the Olympia contingent of the Coast Guard Auxilliary -- for another year anyway!
