Olympia Tugboat Races 2004 |
|
|
| This year's coverage of
Olympia's tugboat races brings us back to the basics of just reporting on
the races.
Over the 2 1/2 mile course, tugs, both working and restored race in four heats, separated by horsepower. Out of the 20 boats that raced, eight were newcomers to the Olympia Classic. In the first heat, the Small Harbor Class (R), HENRIETTA FOSS and THELMA S battle it out for second place.

In the Under 400 Horsepower class, newcomer, ALYSSA JANE overtakes Olympia's CEDAR KING to take second place -- |
| While Harbor Days old timer RELIABLE takes yet another win -- and another winner's flag. Skipper/owner, Phil Shively announced he has sold RELIABLE and is retiring from the tugboat business. Phil is an old friend of the Olympia festival and will be missed. The best to you Phil ! | ![]() |
