Olympia 2005 Race Results

Olympia, WA

After 20 years shooting the races and after many years of taking advantage of the provided press boat, I decided to shoot from a racing tug -- and stay on board for the entire event. There's nothing like it! Watch all the races, enjoy the thrill of a race firsthand, eat good food. What a great way to spend a Sunday on the Sound!

We took in the races from the Quigg owned, IRONMAN, a 42 footer from Aberdeen, WA. Her skipper was called away to a job at the last minute, so Bob Powell, former owner of SAND MAN volunteered to handle the helm.

Racing in the Over 400 hp heat, IRONMAN jumped off the line but was quickly overcome by the big boys.

Olympia's races are run on Budd Inlet from a standing start over a two mile course.

ST 2130 and Earnest battle it out. Earnest eventually came in 4th, ST 2130, 6th place.

Under dramatic skies, ST2130, Earnest and Marlin II run the course, leaving our boat, Ironman in their wakes!
