Stuffed Crow Tribunal

Camp Long is a wonderful nature park in the heart of West Seattle, WA. Each spring , the staff presents a day long program on crows. Usually, about 25-30 friendly and somewhat quirky  people --after all, they are crow people -- show up, armed with their favorite crow stories and ready to learn more about our feathered favorites!

During last year's program, I noticed in the corner of the room, on top of a bookcase, a trio of stuffed crows. One of the women that works there said the birds were  maybe 45-50 years old. I asked if I could photograph them, and for the next hour, using only window light, I moved my lens  this way and that,  with only the wall as a background.    I imagined the myth of the crow tribunal, where crow stood before his peers for some infraction of the corvidae code.

The charges are heard

The witness for the prosecution testifies, then  the defendant.

The verdict is rendered.
